About

Pocket Playbook started as a group chat where three of us kept swapping screenshots and complaining about touch controls. At some point it made more sense to write things down properly, so here we are. The site is independent — nobody hands us a schedule of what to cover.

Every game we write about gets played on at least two different phones, usually one older mid-range device and one newer flagship. We do this because a game that runs beautifully on a fresh handset can turn into a stuttering battery hog on the phone most people actually own. That gap matters, so we mention it.

We pick titles by a simple rule: does it teach us something about how mobile games can feel? A clever control scheme, smart battery behaviour, a genre done well on a small screen — that earns a spot. We ignore hype cycles and skip anything that feels like a reskin of last month's release.

There's no paid coverage and no sponsored rankings. If we liked something we say so, and if a game annoyed us after twenty minutes we'll tell you that too.
